I am so excited to be sharing the beautiful wedding of Sophie and David at Froyle Park on the Surrey/Hampshire borders.  Froyle Park is a magnificent Jacobean manor dating back to 1620 and Sophie and David chose to host their wedding breakfast in the gorgeous Grand Ballroom.  Almost a blank canvas of white walls and a marble floor, the Ballroom was transformed by beautiful table settings, flowers, lighting and a spectacular dance floor and star cloth.

I first met Sophie and David when they came to hear me play at Coworth Park – an elegant Dorchester Group hotel just outside Ascot.  There, I was playing for afternoon tea and David and Sophie popped along and asked for a few requests.  This was a second wedding for the pair of them and they were determined that it should be the celebration of a lifetime.  They wanted to share the true love (that had taken both of them so long to find) with all their friends and family. Sophie put so much effort into every little detail of the day that not only did she look beautiful in her long lace dress, but everything about the celebration ran like clockwork! That’s what meticulous planning and attention to detail brings.

Straight after the ceremony I played for their reception drinks and canapés and then, when all the photos were finished, I set up my portable baby grand piano shell in the ballroom and continued to play throughout their Wedding Breakfast.  I have to say, I have never seen my piano shell look so stunning.  This nifty little number is an empty shell of a grand piano, with an electric keyboard placed inside it so it looks and sounds just like a real grand piano.

Even though I wasn’t there to play for their evening first dance (this was left to the DJ) Sophie and I spent a lot of time discussing what would be an appropriate choice.  After toying with the idea of “Walking Back to Happiness” which they both felt had lyrics which told their story perfectly, they finally chose Queen’s ‘You’re My Best Friend’.

Sophie and David, it was an honour being there to celebrate your magical wedding day with you and I wish you both all the love, happiness, fun and laughter in the world.
